Roos Soetekouw is a textile designer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Roos studied textile design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. After graduation she was one of the designers selected to design rooms for Hotel The Exchange, which is part of Lloyd Hotels. The rooms in this hotel are not decorated, but dressed, like models.
Roos’s work is characterized by an outspoken, visual story and careful detailing. Her works are produced in high-quality, durable materials. The designs reflect her curiosity about life and her ability to look at it from a unique perspective. Thanks to her fashion background, she has developed a talent for selecting bold colour combinations and combining different materials to create luxurious fabrics. The fabrics are developed and produced at the TextileLab in Tilburg. There is a growing demand for her imaginary but bold style and feeling for tactile combinations.
Roos’s imaginative, bright style, with its sense of contrast, appeals to a growing segment of the public. In 2014, she was approached by Li Edelkoort’s team. Soetekouw’s work is sold in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, England and the US. In 2015 Roos was nominated for the VIVA400, Viva magazine’s list of leading, inspiring women, and that same year she introduced two new collections.
